Notifir First Look: Manage Your Social Networks in One Place

I think the answer to all of my social networking woes has arrived! I recently received my private beta invite to Notifir.com, and I have instantly fallen in love. My main gripe with the recent “explosion” of social networking sites was the inability to keep track of them all. Notifir has eliminated this problem, and actually did a very good job!

About Notifir:

Notifir will provide the user with the ability to manage several different social networking sites. A few sites that will be featured are Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com, Reddit.com, and Netscape.com. The private beta solely features Digg.com at this point, and I have provided a few screen shots below.

The first shot is of the “Dashboard” section, and it shows your recent (24 hrs) submitted stories, along with how many diggs and comments are on the story. It also provides the original story link, which is very convenient for friends when viewing via Notifir. It also has “Quick links” to links within Digg that open in a new screen.

Dashboard

This next shot shows the “Admin” section. Here is where you plug-in all of the emails of your friends for easy access. You can notify them of newly submitted stories with a few clicks. Probably a task getting the email addresses of your Digg friends though. Things like stumble should be easier.

Admin

This last shot shows your complete profile. This will be a great way to get friends from one social networking site, to join another, which will ultimately create stronger bonds as time goes on. I have to admit that I lost a few good friends when the life cycle of certain sites ran out.

Profile

Notifir will turn out to be essential for avid users of social bookmarking sites. It will undoubtedly be used widely by users of Digg and StumbleUpon which are two of my favorite social sites.

It opens to the public September 1st. The private beta just started today! Sign up and hope to get an invite!

I am not sure what’s the point? All the information it has you can get from Digg directly or StumbleUpon. Seems like an extra layer of complexity for something that already is there.

@Jacob: Sure, when you use 1 or 2 sites, it is easy to manage. When you have 3 or more, it gets a bit tedious rambling through multiple sites. The idea of Notifir seems to place everything in one central area, which is needed right now, and especially in the future as more and more sites are created.

I guess I just don’t see it. Maybe it’s because I would only use Digg and Reddit here and there. Just looks like another site you have to manage or keep track of to make sure it is putting what you want out there. You also call sites like Digg and Reddit social networks, I find that the wrong term, “social news network” would be a much more appropriate one. So does Notifir (makes me think of noti-fur) handle anything other than the social news sites that you listed?

Hrm, Social News Networks is accurate for sites like Digg and Reddit, but sites like stumbleupon really aren’t news sites, so I used a line that would cover both types :D I must agree though, if I was using 1 or 2 sites Notifir would extend a few simple tasks. Though the email function would still be useful to notify your friends though.

I just signed up. Looks very promising and I might have to write a review when/if I get an invite.

I had an idea for a site that focused around sending your friends links, either through email, IM or even SMS. I am not sure if it would be popular or not, but it is a site I definitely would use.

Hello all,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review ob81.

@Jacob

To really “get it” at full value, you need to be a regular submitter of content. That is where Notifir.com really saves you lots of time and makes your experience more interesting.

I’m worried about pumping Notofiri with all of the emails for digg/reddit users. They will end up having contacts for every social bookmarker online. Something very precious.
